Local DGO branch


The DGO branch in Bremen regularly organizes discussion rounds with lectures by German and foreign scientists. Speakers in recent years have included Dr. Michal Kopeček (Prague), Dr. Maya Turovskaja (Munich), Dr. Mark Kech-Szajbel (Frankfurt/Oder), Dr. Petr Szczepanik (Brno) and Prof. Sheila Fitzpatrick (Chicago/Sidney).

Young DGO Bremen


The Young DGO group Bremen was created in 2020 for two years and unites five young East European experts. The goal of the project is to increase the visibility of the DGO efforts in Bremen and to develop the local community of East European enthusiasts. The team plans to organize several events in Bremen to acquaint the general public with some historical events and current issues in Eastern Europe, e.g. to hold a photo exhibition commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster in summer 2021. The Young DGO group Bremen cooperates closely with a number of academic and research institutions (Forschungsstelle Osteuropa), governmental (EuropaPunkt Bremen) and non-governmental organizations (Böll-Stiftung Bremen).
