"Employment, food security and social protection for migrant workers during the COVID-19 pandemic."
On 02 July 2024 from 12:00 to 13:00, Nguyen Thi Dien, an associate professor from the Faculty of Social Sciences of Vietnam National University of Agriculture, will present at FSO (room OEG 3790, 3rd floor) her work on “Employment, food security and social protection for migrant workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.” In her study of Hanoi and Bac Ninh province in Vietnam, Prof. Nguyen Thi Dien unfolds the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the job, working hours, and expenditures of labor migrants and the state policies initiated to address the immediate issues they faced.
This study will be of interest to researchers working on labor migration, social protection, and the state response to COVID-19 in Vietnam, as well as to researchers eager to learn more about the adjustments of employment and social policy programs in the (post)socialist countries. The presentation will be held in English.
