Educational background
2002-2007 BA in political sicience from the National University of Laos, Lao PDR
2015-2016 MA in development practice from the University of Queensland, Australia.
2022-2025. A PhD candidate at ULB, Brussels, Belgium.
Work experiences
Amphone is an expert in community dialogue & movements, rural development, and community organizing. His research also focuses on rural development, child marriage, gender empowerment and cooperative systems in Laos (Self-Help Groups, Production Group, and Cooperative). He has about 15 years of experience as a researcher and lecturer at the National University of Laos (NUOL) and in research collaboration with national and international development agencies. He has also been assigned as a project coordinator for many project collaborations such as: Erasmus+ on student and staff mobility program between NUOL and ULB, Belgium; Save Children International (SCI) on child protection and gender-based violence; Sae Maul Undong (new village movement) with a focus on community development and movement; UNFPA on Development of social work counseling program of NUOL; and UNICEF on evaluating and improving social work curriculum of NUOL. With his expertise, he has also been a national research consultant for a number of international organizations such as ACIAR (small-scale agricultural development), and PLAN International Laos, on child early marriage and Comprehensive Sexuality Education.

This project is under the EU funded project “Ethnic Girls Rights Advocacy” Project, (March 2018 – February 2021). Gender Development Association and Plan International Laos supported this research study.
- A joint research project with National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) and National Institute for Economic Research (NIER) on the project Stakeholder Analysis of Agricultural Cooperative in Laos: Current status and ways forwards funded by Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) (1-12/2021)
